Truth, Tears, and the Advocate
Truth, Tears, and the Advocate
Truth matters, but truth without grace can crush people instead of freeing them. Jesus never lowered the bar; He fulfilled it. He didn’t come to say sin’s no big deal. He came to pay the price for it. When we hold to truth, we have to hold it the way Jesus did with compassion, not condemnation. Our job isn’t to point fingers, it’s to point people to Him.
John 7:24 says, “Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”
Job’s friends gave him speeches, but Job gave God his tears. He didn’t hide his pain he poured it out. That’s what real faith looks like sometimes. It’s not standing tall on the mountain; it’s crawling through the ashes and still saying, “God, I know You see me.” Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do for someone who’s hurting is just sit there and cry with them.
Job 16:20 says, “My friends scorn me; my eye pours out tears to God.”
Job longed for someone in heaven to speak for him someone who understood. We have that in Jesus. When the accuser starts listing your failures, Jesus stands and says, “Father, that one’s Mine.” That’s not lowering the standard that’s satisfying it with love. That’s grace and truth working together.
1 John 2:1 says, “We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.”
Even now when it feels like nobody understands you, when you’ve been judged or misunderstood your witness is in heaven. Hold on to truth, but don’t forget the tears. Speak grace before correction. And remember, your Advocate still speaks for you.
