A New Way to Live

Feb 1, 2026    Mike Elrod

Jesus closes the Sermon on the Mount with a loving but urgent question: What is your life really built on? Using the image of two houses and one inevitable storm, He shows that hearing His words—even admiring them—is not enough. The difference is trust expressed through obedience. Obedience doesn’t earn love or prevent storms; it reveals where our confidence rests. When we trust Jesus enough to live by His words, He makes His home with us—steadying us with His presence, anchoring us with His peace, and holding us firm when life shakes. A new way to live begins not when Jesus inspires us, but when He becomes our foundation.
