David refused to allow resentment and bitterness to take root in his heart toward King Saul because David believed God isn't honored with such behavior. Remaining loyal to God's ways ensures victory over our enemies when we act in accordance with God's wishes. The Bible constantly reinforces that we should forgive because he forgave us.
